My Christmas Blog Is Up And Running!
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
I don’t do much for Christmas in terms of affiliate marketing, but I’ve spent the last 2 days setting up a Christmas blog. I’d love to do more because I know people who make an absolute killing coming up to Christmas, but they do it with PPC and PPC isn’t something I’ve mastered (yet). It’s on my ‘to do’ list for 2009, but I generally prefer free methods of marketing.
I did a similar blog last year and it made over $1500 in Amazon commissions for about 2 days work – so I’m hoping this one will do the same. It’s based around ‘top 10s’ of gifts – like top 10 gifts for girlfriends, or top 10 gifts for mothers. Unfortunately, I sold the one I made in 2007 earlier this year (which was a bit hasty of me seeing as it’s still ranked no.1 in Google for it’s main key phrase), so I’ve had to start a new one, and this time I’m actually using Blogger (which I usually only use for testing rather than for my real sites).
I’ll be submitting a few articles for the blog in the next few weeks and I’ll do some social bookmarking, but I probably won’t do too much more in terms of promotion. I know people are already doing their Christmas shopping research, but for now I’m only working on getting the blog ranked well. My Amazon stats tell me that my sales in 2007 were mainly from Oct 25th – Dec 18th last year, although I’ve heard with the state of the economy many people will be starting earlier this year.
As an aside, Christmas is the ONLY time I use the Amazon affiliate program, because you really need a huge amount of traffic and sales to make any kind of worth while commission (they only pay about 4%).
And no, I haven’t submitted any articles for the 30 day challenge for the past 2 days, although I’m still submitting articles daily for my more established sites. I’ll get back to it again tomorrow hopefully.
